SUB-IP – how did we get there

• What looks like wires to IP

  • May not be physical wires anymore
  • May be something that can be configured
  • Where “paths” look like a wire to IP
    • E.g. ATM VCs, lambdas, etc
  • Might also be routed datagrams one layer down
    • E.g. IPsec tunnels
  • And then there is MPLS
    • A foo that gets more and more attention
